About The Event
Class Description
Textured metal creates layers by adding depth and intrigue beyond a highly polished surface. In this workshop students will learn acid and electro etching, we'll distress common hardware hammers to create a texturing hammer and we'll push the limits of what a rolling mill can do. We'll explore pattern, text, colored Prisma Pencils and patinas to add a personal narrative to your work. Using cold connections, students will add a personalized metal applique onto a book cover. There will be time to finish your book applique.
Students will build samples of metal, a library of sorts, that will allow them to mix and match patterns and designs to help create a unique voice to approaching metal fabrication. Students will document each sample with metal type, texture, and tool used. This is less of a “project class” and more of a “technique and skill building” class. For more information
