I was approached to make an award for an arts organization... Long story short, I decided to make a Ray Gun Bolo Tie. It speaks to the awardee as an individual and I'm expecting he will LOVE it :)
This is it in process with semiprecious stones.
I'm sharing with you some of the design process. From sketch to almost-finished, this has been a "blast" to make.
The main body is made of sheet silver, with another layer of sheet, brass and wire decoration, and bezels for jewels, attached with brass rivets. Silver loops hold the bolo tie in place. The final touch will be to add an LED light to the small hole at the nozzle end!
