Lost Language of the Cranes

Last summer I participated in an outdoor show at the Fens called Studios Without Walls “When the Light Gets In”. In collaboration with Janet Kawada, she fabricated about 30 origami cranes from painted window screen. My job was to embellish nine large cranes with Solar LED lights. This proved to be quite a challenge, as the cranes were hung in a single vertical line and the LED’s are one long string are a fixed length. Oooh, math is not my strong suit. The crane’s outline required lighting, as well as the wings and head; then keep going. The lighting twinkled on and off in quiet and steady rhythm.
